The terms get used interchangeably, and both describe the same garment: a short-sleeve cotton shirt carrying printed artwork on the front, back or both. What varies enormously between sellers is the shirt underneath the print, and that is where most of the difference in how long one lasts comes from.
What to look at before buying
Fabric weight tells you most of the story. Anything under 5 oz will thin out and go translucent. Construction matters next: a tubular knit with no side seams keeps the body from twisting in the wash. Then printing method, where direct-to-garment cures ink into the fibre rather than laying a plastic film on top of it. The short sleeve tees here use a 6.1 oz tubular garment-dyed blank, and every design is printed DTG.
